Rhizome No.1

RONALD VAN DER HILST
Ceramic, Graphite Glaze
H 70 x L 120 x W 95 cm

Rhizome No.1 is executed in ceramic with graphite glaze and draws inspiration from the organic forms of tuberous roots and natural formations. The fluid sculptural volume avoids rigid symmetry: the surface is shaped as a continuous movement of mass, where soft curves and cavities create a sense of natural growth.

The graphite glaze gives the work a deep mineral tonality, enhancing the interaction between light and surface. The object exists between sculpture and functional piece, preserving the monumentality of form and the restrained architectural presence characteristic of Ronald van der Hilst’s practice.
