Large Vessel № 2

Unique piece

The ceramic work Large Vessel № 2 continues Roger Herman’s exploration of spontaneity and material unpredictability. The asymmetrical vessel appears shaped through a process of free deformation, with the artist intentionally relinquishing complete control and allowing chance to participate in the formation of the object.

Its surface is covered with layered coloured glazes that create a painterly composition with pronounced texture and visible traces of handwork. For Herman, ceramics become a field of experimentation in which firing, glaze movement, and the physical behaviour of the material determine the final appearance of the work.
