In Hale — a monumental coffee table in which a massive block of marble visually "hovers" above a metal base resembling a soft cushion.
The idea for the work emerged from observing a fragment of marble previously considered residual material. By shaping metal sheets under pressure, Ben Storms creates a volumetric "cushion" that supports the stone, producing an effect of defying gravity.
The marble is sourced from quarries across Europe and retains its natural expressiveness: the surface is only partially finished, combining polished areas with the raw, rugged texture of the underside.
