Ex Hale — a stone table that reproduces the form of a monumental cushion. The original shape is created from two metal sheets using a technique developed by Ben Storms in the In Vein and In Hale series: under pressure, the metal acquires soft, fluid contours.
The resulting volume is scanned and translated into a digital model, which is then used for precision carving in natural stone or marble. As a result, the hard material retains the visual softness of the original structure.
A subtle treatment of the surface heightens this effect, creating a tension between the physical mass of the stone and its perceived plasticity.
