The DC2618 coffee table belongs to the Je suis la matière (“I am matter”) series, in which Vincenzo De Cotiis places material at the center of the artistic expression. Hand-painted recycled fiberglass is combined with cast white bronze, while the low, elongated form and irregular contours give the object the presence of a sculptural fragment.
Traces of handwork, variations in the surface, and transitions between different materials are deliberately left visible. Rather than concealing the qualities of matter, the form allows them to shape the perception of the object, blurring the boundary between functional object and sculpture.
