Twins Mirror

Noir de Mazy marble, Stainless Steel
H 200 x L 180 x W 12 cm
8 + 2 АP
Twins Mirror is a pair of identically shaped wall mirrors executed in stainless steel and black Belgian Noir de Mazy marble. Every detail of the second mirror corresponds to the first: once the steel mirror has been shaped, it is scanned at high resolution, after which an exact reproduction is carved from precious black marble. To complete the process, both elements undergo prolonged hand-finishing and polishing — a process taking several days.
Like other works by Ben Storms, Twins Mirror plays with the viewer's preconceptions and expectations; the unexpected form of the steel and the polished finish of the marble subvert conventional assumptions about these materials.
