Like other works by Ben Storms, In Hale Wallpiece explores the boundaries of material, form, and function through perception. Here, solid metal acquires visual lightness and plasticity, reflecting and diffusing the surrounding space.
Stainless steel, brass, and copper are shaped under pressure, taking on soft, fluid contours. The process retains an element of unpredictability, in which the behaviour of the material extends beyond complete control.
The metal sheet is stretched over a stone base, conforming to its contours and structure. The result is a complex surface where depth and relief are formed through the interplay of industrial process and natural form.
