In the Éternel series, Vincenzo De Cotiis focuses on the process of forming through material reworking and the removal of all that is superfluous. The compositions are built upon restrained plasticity and accentuated texture, where the material defines the character of the object.
The aesthetic of the series is informed by the Japanese conception of balance, luminous transparency, and minimalism. Translucent elements and soft transitions of light create a sensation of depth without excessive ornamentation.
Structural joints remain visible, emphasising the logic of construction and the stages of creation. In Éternel, the object is perceived as a stable, calibrated element of space — where material and time exist in equilibrium.
