Crushed Console Breccia Pontificia is built upon the interaction between mirror-polished stainless steel and Breccia Pontificia marble. The metal, marked by characteristic deformations, reflects and fragments the surrounding space, while the solid stone block preserves a sense of stability and natural monumentality.
The contrast between the fluidity of the reflective surface and the dense texture of marble reveals the material investigation central to Ben Storms’ practice. The natural veining and layered structure of the stone enhance the depth of the object, transforming the console into a sculptural form existing between design and architecture.
